Tourism in the Canary Islands continues to grow steadily. According to the latest data from the Canary Islands Statistics Institute (ISTAC), the number of overnight stays in hotel and non-hotel accommodations in April increased by 1.23% compared to the same month in 2024, reaching 7.77 million nights.
This growth was largely driven by domestic tourism, with overnight stays by residents of Spain increasing by 9.93%. Meanwhile, overnight stays by international tourists — who account for nearly 9 out of every 10 hotel nights — also rose slightly, by 0.25%.
A total of 1.19 million tourists stayed in hotel and non-hotel establishments across the Canary Islands during April, representing a 7.16% increase year-on-year.
The occupancy rate for rooms and apartments stood at 75.61%, with Lanzarote registering the highest occupancy among the islands.
Tourism revenue also showed strong performance. Hotels and apartments in the Canary Islands generated €447.87 million in April, up 13.31% compared to the same period in 2024. The average daily rate (ADR) per occupied room was €128.12, while the revenue per available room (RevPAR) — regardless of occupancy — reached €96.87.
In terms of employment, 70,982 jobs were recorded in the 1,294 accommodation establishments surveyed. This means that for every 100 tourists staying in the Canary Islands, there were 5.98 people employed in the accommodation sector.
